Internships
Creatie Internship Opportunities for Local High School Students

Dear Business Owner,
Conifer and Evergreen High Schools, along with the Jefferson County School District, are excited to announce the launch of a local internship program, and they want you to participate. The schools are seeking businesses in every industry to share their expertise and offer real-world learning experiences to our CHS and EHS students.
The goal of the program is to enhance the high school experience by preparing students for life beyond the classroom. By exposing them to industries and professions, students can explore their career interests in a hands-on way. The clarity they will gain will help them identify studies to pursue and determine if those studies include college, university, community college, trade programs, certifications, or on-the-job training.
Offering internships can benefit your business in several ways. Not only will it provide the opportunity to promote your business and your industry, but it can also enhance your business in the following ways:
-
Talent Pipeline: Internships can help to build your pipeline of candidates and serve as a “trial period” for future employees.
-
Fresh Perspectives: Interns can give you a new perspective on company activity by bridging the generational gaps. Your intern can introduce your business to new technologies and trends, offering innovative ideas and approaches.
-
Enhanced Productivity: Interns can tackle lower-level tasks with energy and eagerness while freeing up your more experienced staff to focus on more complex responsibilities.
-
Leadership Development: Internships provide opportunities for your current employees to develop leadership and mentoring skills, giving you the opportunity to recognize your future leaders.
-
Improved Workplace Culture: Creating a welcoming environment for interns can have a positive effect on your company’s overall culture and team dynamics.
Since every business has unique needs and capacities, the program is designed with flexibility in mind:
-
Work Frequency: You set the schedule for your internship—it can be daily, weekly, or as needed.
-
Duration: Internships can be short-term (shadowing for a few days), semester-long, or extended throughout the school year.
-
Compensation: Internships can be paid or unpaid, depending on your business’s preference.
The purpose of the program is to expose our students to as many different types of businesses and the many positions within each business as possible. You may have concrete ideas and positions that would work well for internships, or you may need a little help in identifying internships. Since the Jefferson County School District has many valuable resources, we ask that you click on the link below to register with the Partners In Education (PIE) program. You will be able to name the school(s) from where you want your interns, and the District can set your internship up for success.

Thank you for considering this program and for your willingness to invest in our students' futures by providing them with valuable real-world experience.
